A local installer who takes the time to get it right
Tom Kindley Home Improvements is a small Newcastle business, and Tom believes a good product is only as good as the way it’s fitted. If you want a more secure front door, warmer rooms or a hallway with more character, he’ll help you pick the right option and then fit it carefully.
We work with composite, uPVC and solid wood, so you can choose the balance of looks, performance and upkeep that suits your home. You’ll get a clear price, honest advice and a tidy installation with as little disruption as possible.
About Tom
What we do
Doors, windows and wall panelling in Newcastle
We focus on three types of work and supply and fit each one ourselves. Choose a service to read about the materials, the fitting process and what to think about before you decide.

Doors
Composite doors for strength and insulation, uPVC for easy care and value, and solid timber for character. Each one fitted to open, close and lock smoothly.
Door installation
Windows
Modern uPVC windows and traditional timber frames. Warmer, quieter rooms with less heat lost through the glass.
Window installationWall Panelling
Modern and classic panelling that adds depth and texture to hallways, bedrooms and living rooms.

Which material is right for your home?
The choice usually comes down to three things: how the door or window looks, how well it performs and how much looking after it needs. This is how the three materials compare.
Composite
Composite doors have a solid, insulated core behind a tough wood-grain skin. They feel heavy, keep the hallway warm and don’t need painting, which makes them a popular choice for front doors.
uPVC
uPVC is hard-wearing, easy to clean and usually the most affordable option. It’s a good fit for back doors, French doors and replacement windows, and it’s simple to match a new door to existing uPVC windows.
Timber
Solid wood has natural grain and suits Newcastle’s many Victorian and Edwardian homes. It needs repainting or re-staining every few years, but it can be repaired and refinished rather than replaced.
For more detail, the door installation guide compares all three side by side, and Tom is always happy to talk through the options for your home.

What affects the cost of new doors and windows?
Every home is different, so we don’t publish fixed prices. Instead, you’ll get a clear quote based on your job, and you can ask Tom for one at any time. These are the main things that affect the price.
The product
The material makes the biggest difference. uPVC is usually the most affordable, while composite and timber cost more. Glass, colours, handles and locks also play a part.
Size and shape
Larger or unusually shaped openings need bigger frames and more glass. Side panels, top lights and bay windows add to the cost.
The condition of the opening
If the brickwork, sill or plaster around the old frame needs repair, there may be some extra work. Tom will point this out when he quotes, so there are no surprises on the day.
How many you replace
Replacing several windows, or a door and windows together, can be planned as one job. Ask for a price on everything you’re considering, even if you end up doing it in stages.
